Refreshing Lemongrass
with citrus Lemon Oil
|
|
In aromatherapy, lemongrass, cymbopogon citratus,
is used extensively in the treatment of skin, as the oil is anti-bacterial, antiseptic and healing. The scent is said to soothe
the mental stresses which can aggrevate the skin.
I've added the clean , citrus essential oil of lemon, which is taken from the skin of the
fruit and bursting with vitamin C.
This is one of my most popular soaps.

I've used the purest lime, citrus aurantifolia, essential
oil, bursting with vitamin C, helping to keep the skin fresh and healthy. In aromatherapy it is used to treat greasy
skin, but I have dry skin and this is still a favourite. The scent is refreshingly clean, popular with both men and women,
children seem to love it aswell. A great bar for the family.
Limes have always been traditionally linked to the coast,
sailors at sea for months at a time, ate the fruit to reduce skin problems and scurvey,(hence the nickname "Limey").
Wells is still a working harbour, with the fish brought in on a small number of fishing vessels.

Healing Honey with soft Oats |

I
use delicious Norfolk honey to make this soap. It is full
of nutrients and smells slightly salty, where the hives are kept all along the Norfolk
coast.
Oats are
an emollient, they moisturise the skin, leaving it beautifully smooth.
This is
a very gentle soap, which smells good enough to eat.

Aromatic Grapefruit & Ginger Spice |

I've used tangy grapefruit essential oil, taken from
kilos of fresh fruit, to help keep the skin healthy. Grapefruit has a gentle, surprisingly floral scent.
The ginger oil, zingiber officinalis, is added to give depth and warmth to the mellow
aroma of this soap. Ginger was extensively used by the ancients for medicinal purposes, its warming effect, especially
used in massage, baths, inhalation and poultices for stiff muscles and aching joints.

Delicious Coffee & Almond Oil |

I was told an, "old wives tale" by a friend.
She said, after preparing local shell fish,
they grab some coffee granules and rub them into their hands, to neutrilise the smell. Coffee being a powerful
antidote for hands that have been chopping onions, garlic or preparing fish.
So, I decided to put this to the test and make a rich, expresso bar. The local restaurants
became our guinea pigs, and what a success. A very welcome addition to the kitchens. I use six kilos of FAIRTRADE
coffee for every batch, but don't expect a strong coffee aroma, as amazingly this can only be replicated by chemical scent,
which I never use in any of my soaps.
This rich, grainy soap, is great in the kitchen.

Orange & Mandarin essential oils
packed with Vitamin C

Orange oil and mandarin oil, citrus reticulata,
is extracted from the peel of the ripe fruit of the citrus tree. Mandarin is named, because for centuries the fruit was
a traditional gift to the mandarin lords of China, although the fruit did not reach Europe until the 1880s.
In aromatherapy it is extensively used for the treatment of stretch marks, scars and stress.
The oil, also makes an average soak in the bath, wonderful. Traditionally, we think of winter months and little orange globes
bursting with goodness.
